MY PASSION,
MY STORY

-
My name is Samantha Jacobs, and I am a bubbly and creative single mother, who thrives to turn my passion into a career, no matter what crazy plans the universe has for me. At 24, I became a Southern Maine Community College graduate of '23 with an associate degree in Applied Science, and I majored in Communications & New Media.
-
I had planned on going to college right after high school not knowing I would have to make a life changing choice that changed my perspective on the world in so many ways. I ended up getting unexpectedly pregnant the summer between high school and college, and I knew in my heart that I needed to go to college and get my degree no matter how long it took me.
-
Now my son, I can proudly say that at age five years old, he got to see his mother walk across the stage, and a month later - he graduated preschool! That was one of my motivations to graduate, because if I didn't, I wouldn't have able to take our graduation pictures together like I did! There were so many times where I wanted to drop out, I even took a semester off, but I told myself I had to do it. And I did it!

When I had my son in 2018, I didn't realize how expensive children were. So I decided to start my own photography business to earn some extra money, and being a photographer has been a long passion of mine, so I thought - maybe I could make a career by doing what I love.
-
When I was younger, I always cared about what other people thought about me and what I did. I wanted to make my friends happy instead of doing what makes me happy because I thought that's what it took to fit in. I always wanted to be known for something, and I wanted people to know my name. I tried being a singer, a dancer, and an artist. I even tried to play a sport, but nothing seemed to spark my passion.
-
The first time I ever held a camera was in my high school film class, and I knew that I wanted to become a photographer; I felt important and influential.

WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO
-
I never really liked being in front of the camera unless I was taking a picture of myself because I could angle it the way I wanted; but that's when I discovered that I could make people happy by doing what I love. So I decided to expand my talents and give people pictures that will create memories that will last a lifetime. It makes me feel like I did something right when I saw the peoples' reactions to the images I had the pleasure of taking.
-
I am excited to see where my future takes me in my photography business. Just seeing the positive and encouraging comments on the pictures that I have taken lets me know that I am going somewhere in life, and it’s scary, but I’m ready to capture every moment.
